Sushi King Celebrates Japanese Culture at the 49th Bon Odori Festival 2025

Sushi King proudly took part in the 49th Bon Odori Festival held for the very first time at Sunway City Kuala Lumpur on 12–13 July 2025. As one of Malaysia’s most beloved Japanese restaurant chains, we were honored to join this iconic celebration of culture, tradition, and community. The Bon Odori Festival, a symbol of friendship between Malaysia and Japan since 1977, drew an impressive crowd of over 50,000 attendees this year. The event was co-organised by the Japan Club of Kuala Lumpur, the Japanese Embassy, the Japanese School of Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Group, and Tourism Selangor.
Held at the open-air carpark opposite Sunway Resort Hotel, the two-day event featured more than 150 booths, traditional performances, taiko drumming, yukata-clad visitors, and the signature Bon Odori dance around the yagura stage. It was a true feast for the senses, and Sushi King was right in the heart of it—serving festival-goers with our signature dishes and warm smiles. Our participation wasn’t just about food—it was about embracing culture and celebrating togetherness.
Bon Odori reflects the values that Sushi King holds dear: community, harmony, and the joy of shared experiences. We were thrilled to witness the excitement and energy as Malaysians and Japanese communities came together in celebration. Seeing families, friends, and fans of Japanese culture enjoying our food and dancing under the lantern-lit sky was a moment of pride and gratitude for all of us at Sushi King.As we continue to serve you with delicious Japanese meals every day, we look forward to being part of more cultural moments like this—where food, tradition, and joy come together.
Thank you for celebrating with us. See you again next year—matane!
